Mellissa

Mellissa is a Co-Podcaster of 2 Khmerican Sisters. In 2009, Mellissa obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Washington (UW) and participated in a study abroad program in Phnom Penh, Cambodia through the School of Social Work.  This experience sparked her interest in international travel. In 2014,  she completed her Project Management certificate program at the UW and became a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute (PMI).  In 2019, she obtained her Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus in Business Analytics through the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University.  

Mellissa has nearly 15+ years of experience working at several Fortune 500 companies and small local to mid-size businesses.  Her areas of expertises include Program / Project Management, Supply Chain Management, Leadership Development, Change Management, Event Planning & Execution, Marketing and Branding and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.  She has traveled to France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Japan.  

Mellissa believes success requires dedication, resiliency and consistency; and, it's also important to build a network of diverse connections and cultivate your personal brand.  Her advices for the younger generation are to do things that scare you, surround yourself with people who are not only smart and driven, but those who will uplift and strengthen you to become the best version of yourself.  And finally, be open to failures and discomfort as well as learning and growing from your experiences, because no journey is perfect.
