2 Khmerican Sisters have an extensive background championing for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion throughout their personal and professional journey.
Mellissa Nguon chaired the Diversity & Inclusion Council for 2 consecutive years at a Fortune 500 company and won a Culture Change Agent Award at the 2015 Global Equity Diversity & Inclusion Conference. Mellissa is also a Discovery Program Graduate of the Executive Development Institute (EDI) for Asian-American Professionals. She is well-versed at leading and facilitating group discussions as a Program / Project Manager and has served as the Communications Leader for a highly competitive Leadership Development Program called Leadership Next. Mellissa will be recognized by the Women of Color Magazine as one of the nation's Technology Rising Stars at an upcoming conference in October sponsored by General Motors. She enjoys serving as a mentor and life coach to young business professionals.
Jasmine Nguon earned her Master's Degree in Teaching and endorsements in Elementary K-8 and English Language Learner through the Seattle Teacher Residency program (STR) in 2018. She currently teaches kindergarten at a Title 1 school in Seattle Public Schools, actively reflecting on her personal and teacher identity in order to create equitable opportunities for all students. She is primarily involved in the Race & Equity Team and the Family Engagement Team to fight towards social justice within the school system and within her school community - students, families, and staff. Jasmine also provides mentorship to teacher candidates of color through STR and is a second-year member of the Educators of Color Leadership Community through the Puget Sound Educational Service District.
