Phanit, widely known as Hella Chluy for his viral comedic videos and music, speaks about his identity as a Khmer American.  Phanit talks about his early childhood memories of growing up in Kelso, WA, embracing Khmer culture and cuisine, encountering some challenges with bullying and mental health and depression, being grateful for participating in athletic sports like Tae Kwon Do. He shares new goals as a Khmer influencer in starting his own podcast, continuing his love for music, and supporting any up and coming Khmer voices.

As women of color in the workforce, we invited our friend Cathy to discuss about our personal experiences of facing and overcoming micro-aggressions, biases, prejudices, and harassment since studies show that we are the least supported group in the workplace. Additionally, we have to work much harder to be seen, heard, and respected compared to our white peers and men of color. 3 | Teaching Young Children about Race, ​BLM, Activism & Current Events

Check out our dear friend, Kaitlin Kamalei Brandon’s Spectrum for Multicultural Literature providing an array of children books about race and multiple narratives in the categories of Conversation, Exploration and Representation.
What is the meaning of privilege? Why is it important to discuss race at home and school? Tune in to hear how the death of George Floyd & BLM protests was brought up during Jasmine's kindergarten virtual classroom. We will also talk about the importance of BIPoC representation and an awesome resource that is available to parents to educate their kids about race and diversity through books. 

2 | Anti-Blackness Beliefs, Model Myth Minority,
​​Racism Issues, Implicit Biases & PoC Representation

Mellissa interviews her sister, Jasmine, an educator of color in Southwest Seattle, to talk about how to open up the conversation for young children to reflect about racial equity and privilege. This will be a three-part series. In this kick off episode, we will discuss experiences with racism and discrimination, harmful anti-blackness beliefs and "Model Minority" stereotype within the Asian community, the "Why" behind the Black Lives Matter Movement, the need for more teachers of color and teachers trained in racial equity, and School-to-Prison Pipeline.

This is a one-of-a-kind cultural storytelling experience told in Khmer and English about the stories of war and genocide by our mom, (Ma) Vy, and grandma, (Yey) Vorn. Our Ma & Yay will share intimate details of experiencing oppression during the 1970s when Dictator Pol Pot gained control of Cambodia to create an agrarian socialist society into a communist society, resulting in the mass killings of a third of the Cambodian population. Leverage this opportunity to educate yourself more about the history of Cambodia and learn about the struggles and challenges that our family had faced during the Khmer Rouge Regime.
